ANSYS and LMS sign agreement

ANSYS and LMS International has signed cross licensing deals to exchange software capabilities. Initially, ANSYS will develop software that expands on LMS’s multi-body dynamics software LMS-DADS.

Vasci group divided into two companies

With the investment of ESI Group into Vibro-acoustic Sciences, the makers of AutoSEA and other software products, the company has been split into two groups. The sales office in San Diego and Detroit are now called ESI North America. Vibro-Acoustic Sciences now only exists in San Diego and is a research and develop company, working on improving AutoSEA and continuing to develop the Resound software.

ANSYS v7.0 released

Ansys have released version 7 of their finite element analysis software. There have been many improvements, including optimization routines, new elements, and my favourite – the ability to export analysis results into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.

Software developed at NASA now available

NASA has made available many software applications that it developed under an open source license agreement. For example, STARS is finite element software used for structural analysis, heat transfer, linear aerodynamics, CFD , and controls engineering. It has been used at NASADryden Flight Research Center for analysis of the X-29A, F18 HARV/TVCS, B-52/Pegasus, Generic Hypersonics, NASP, SR-71, and the high speed civil transport (HSCT), among others.
